Guiding & Tuition

Thoughtful Guiding. Real Water. Real Outcomes.

A good day on the river isn’t about being shown where to fish —
it’s about understanding why you’re there, and making the most of every opportunity the day offers.

Our Guiding & Tuition services are built around experience, local knowledge, and calm, practical decision-making on the water.

Whether you’re new to fly fishing or looking to fish more effectively, each day is tailored to your goals, ability, and the conditions at hand.

Booking a fly fishing guide guarantees you a great day out on the river. All of our guides are very experienced instructors and also easy going personalities.

What Sets Our Guiding Apart

With over 30 years guiding on the Goulburn and across Victoria, and decades of experience in New Zealand and Montana, our guides bring far more than local familiarity.

You can expect:

  • Personalised guidance — instruction when it helps, space when it doesn’t

  • Smart water choice — we go where the fishing suits the day, not a fixed plan

  • Problem-solving on the fly — casting, rigging, fly choice, positioning

  • Efficient use of time — less walking, more fishing

The aim is simple: to help you fish better, with more confidence, in less time.

Access That Makes a Difference

Our long-standing knowledge of the district allows us to:

  • Drive directly to productive water

  • Avoid unnecessary walking and pressure

  • Fish sections that many anglers never reach

This is particularly valuable for:

  • Time-poor anglers

  • Those wanting to maximise a half-day session

  • Clients with limited mobility who still want excellent water

A Day on the River

Every guided day is different, but typically includes:

  • Fishing the best water available on the day

  • On-water coaching as needed

  • Fly selection and presentation guidance

  • Reading water and understanding fish behaviour

  • Ethical and low-impact fishing practices

Whether the focus is learning, catching fish, or simply enjoying a well-run day on the river, the approach is always calm, professional, and unhurried.

Our Guides

Our team ranges from guides in their late thirties to one in his early eighties — all chosen for their experience, temperament, and ability to work with clients at any level.

We’ll always aim to match you with the guide best suited to your needs.
