INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

From your first cast to the world’s great trout rivers — these carefully selected journeys represent the pinnacle of fly fishing across the globe.

Three Journeys. One Standard.

For over 30 years, Goulburn Valley Fly Fishing Centre has been built on experience, judgement, and long-standing relationships.

Our international programs are a natural extension of that foundation.

They are not packaged tours.
They are small, carefully run fly fishing journeys — hosted personally, and shaped by decades of time on the water and trusted partnerships with some of the best outfitters in the world.

Each destination is limited in number.
Each week is deliberately structured.
Each guest receives the same level of attention that has defined GVFFC since 1994.

Why Travel With GVFFC?

There are many ways to book a fishing trip overseas.

Very few are built on long-term experience.

When you travel with us, you benefit from:

  • Long-standing relationships with premier guides and lodges
  • Carefully selected dates based on real conditions, not marketing calendars
  • Seamless organisation from first enquiry to return home
  • Small groups of like-minded anglers
  • Personal hosting throughout the journey

Anthony no longer seeks to guide every day.

Instead, his role is focused where it matters most — designing the program, selecting the right water, working with the right people, and ensuring the week unfolds as it should.

This shift benefits every guest.

A Note on Approach

We do not chase volume.

Each program is intentionally limited so that quality is never diluted.

Across New Zealand, Montana, and Patagonia, the focus remains the same:

  • access to exceptional water
  • strong local partnerships
  • and quietly well-run weeks that feel considered from start to finish

If you are looking for heavily marketed, high-volume travel, there are many options available.

If you value experience, judgement, and a more personal approach — you will feel the difference.

NEW ZEALAND

Southland — January to March

Our flagship international program.

Clear water. Wild brown trout. A pace that allows you to settle into each day.

Based in Southland, this is a highly refined but understated week built around sight fishing, flexible river choice, and small group dynamics.

  • 7 nights, 6 full fishing days
  • Predominantly 1:2 guiding, with one 1:1 day
  • Only 4 anglers per week (occasional 6-person weeks by request)
  • Comfortable riverside accommodation
  • Chef-quality shared evening meals

It is a week that rewards patience, observation, and good water.

MONTANA

Hosted Expedition — June & July

A structured, multi-region American experience.

Over 13 days, we fish three distinct regions — each offering something different:

  • the Missouri River’s consistency and scale
  • the technical waters around Dillon
  • the alpine landscapes of Yellowstone
  • Only 4 anglers per trip
  • 9 days guided fishing
  • Premium accommodation throughout
  • Fully hosted from arrival to departure

This is Montana done properly — without guesswork, and without compromise.

PATAGONIA

Trevelin — Hosted Week in Partnership with PRG

Our most refined and exclusive program.

A week based at Patagonia River Guides’ signature lodge in Trevelin — combining diverse fishing with five-star accommodation, food, and service.

Each day is shaped by conditions and preference, moving between:

  • spring creeks
  • freestone rivers
  • drift boat water
  • and remote lakes
  • 7 nights at a premium lodge
  • 6 days guided fishing
  • Exceptional food, wine, and hospitality
  • Strong partner appeal beyond fishing

This is as much about the overall experience as it is the fishing.

Choosing the Right Trip

Each destination offers something different.

  • New Zealand — technical, visual fishing in clear water
  • Montana — variety, scale, and a classic American experience
  • Patagonia — diversity, comfort, and a more refined pace

If you’re unsure which suits you best, we’re always happy to talk it through.
