Client Reviews

NZ Trip That Never Disappoints

Embarking on a fly fishing journey with GVFFC in New Zealand is an experience I’ve repeated annually since 2003, and it never disappoints. For any fly fishing enthusiast, the sight of massive trout in the transparent waters of New Zealand is incomparable to anything else in the world. The guides are excellent at adapting to individual capabilities, offering a range of fishing spots to cater to different abilities.

The accommodation, though simple, is cozy and comfortable, housing a small group of fellow fly-fishers, with whom you can share stories and experiences at the end of each day. Overall, this is an adventure I can’t recommend enough for those seeking an unforgettable fly fishing experience.

– Simon

Spectacular New Zealand

I was gifted a remarkable fly fishing adventure to NZ with Goulburn Valley Fly Fishing Centre for my 50th birthday, and it was such a captivating experience that I’ve returned annually for 13 years now. The stunning rivers and the company of guides who feel more like friends make for a week in fly fishing paradise. Comfortable accommodation and delicious meals, including a couple of memorable evenings at the homestead and Mossburn Pub, add to the overall appeal of the experience.

As early as July each year, I find myself eager for the next adventure, anticipating the exciting times ahead. Regardless of the weather, there’s always a fishable spot to be found, ensuring there’s never an idle day. From landing in New Zealand to the day of departure, it’s a ceaseless journey of fishing delight. If you crave a fly fishing experience that truly feels like magic, I suggest booking with GVFFC, but act quickly – spaces are limited and many of us are quick to rebook for the following year as soon as we return home.

– Peter

Transformative Experience

I recently embarked on one of GVFFC’s New Zealand fly fishing tours, following my initial introduction to the sport through their beginner’s course. This experience proved to be transformative, convincing me to rebook for the following summer, just like the three seasoned fishermen I joined.

The team of guides was incredibly supportive, offering additional casting lessons and dedicating long days to fishing multiple rivers when the weather allowed. The accommodation was cozy. What truly stood out was the diverse and interesting group of people I met, all connected through the shared love for fly fishing.

Although new to fly fishing, my comparison with numerous international golfing trips highlights the focus of this adventure – the authentic angling experience rather than mere luxury. I am indebted to Antony and his hardworking team for making this unforgettable trip a permanent fixture in my summer plans. I returned home not only having caught fish as a beginner but also as a much more knowledgeable and passionate fly fisher.

– Tim
