Each season brings its own rhythm, and this year we’re offering something truly special — a rare opportunity to fish with our entire team of GVFFC guides across some of the most varied and productive waters in the country.

Our High Country Fly Fishing Getaways are designed for groups of six to ten anglers, combining the talents of Anthony Boliancu, Tony Edwards, and Cam McGregor — along with our GVFFC guide team — in one 5-day experience.

Because bringing this team together at the same time is no small feat, these trips run only on set dates during the peak of the fishing season. Each is carefully timed for optimal river levels, insect activity, and angler comfort — giving you the best possible chance of exceptional fishing in a single, focused week.

TRIP 2: March/April, 2026

How it works

Arrive Sunday afternoon at our comfortable, centrally located accommodation base.
Four full days of fishing (Mon–Thu) when the streams are at their least crowded.
Base within one hour of most fishing locations, with optional day trips up to two hours away for special waters.
Depart Friday evening, refreshed and ready for the weekend.

From our High Country base we can access a wide range of rivers, creeks, and lakes — from Bright and the Ovens, through the Mitta Mitta River below Lake Dartmouth, across to Khancoban and the Swampy Plains below Khancoban Pondage, and north into the Snowy Mountains and the Tumut River flowing from Blowering Reservoir.

Each trip combines drift-boat and walk-wade fishing for both trout and Murray Cod on fly, carefully balanced to match the conditions and your group’s preferences.

Your guides

Our guiding team brings together more than 100 years of professional experience across Australian and international waters:

Anthony Boliancu – Owner and Head Guide of GVFFC, with 30 years’ experience guiding across Victoria and beyond.
Tony Edwards – Tumut and Swampy Plains specialist with deep knowledge of Snowy Mountains tailwaters.
Cam McGregor – Renowned Murray Cod fly fisher and drift-boat expert on the Swampy Plains and Mitta Mitta rivers.
Plus our GVFFC guides and specialist casting instructors, on hand throughout the trip to help refine your casting and presentation skills.

Together, they ensure each day is spent where conditions — and fish — are at their best.

I have been fly fishing for trout in the south Island of New Zealand for a few years now with the GVFFC boys. These are true professionals and totally committed to ensure that all anglers get the most out of the weeks fishing trip. All l have to do is get to queenstown. All transport, accommodation, food, guiding and flies are provided. I am booked for a week in 2019 and cannot wait. Absolutely great experience doing the one day learn to fly fish course. Anthony taught us to cast in the morning, salvaged lunch when I messed things up, and got us both to catch fish on dry flies on our first time fly fishing. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn to fly fish. The instructor knew the river like the back of his hand, had access to all the properties and seemed to know the fish on a first name basis. Thanks for the great day on the river. I hope to come back and learn more after Christmas. PS- Seeing platypus in the wild was a real bonus 👍

drift fishing on the G with antony is one of the finest fishing experiences i've had. antony will not only put you onto fish but improve your fish craft and insect knowledge in one session. you will be a better fisherman/woman after this tranquil, informative and exhilerating experience. antony and his team care deeply about the river and are not looking to exploit it's fishing - rather to preserve it. i wish i could say the same about all guiding operations. thanks again antony - looking forward to the next one.

The guys at GVFFC are simply the best when it comes to fly fishing and guiding the Goulburn, Rubicon, Steavenson and other rivers in the area - nobody else comes close. I was lucky enough to have a day of guiding on the Goulburn recently, and their knowledge of the river is nothing short of incredible. I consider myself a fairly experienced fly fisher, but the level of advice and expertise they were able to offer was really eye opening. Everything from reading the water, to new tactics, to local knowledge of trout behaviour and which flies work best in which conditions - it's amazing just how much they can improve your fishing. To top it all off, they're great guys with a real passion for sustainable fishing. Do yourself a favour and book an experience with them - you won't regret it.
